Tea Mug Necklaces

The other day I found these two adorable tiny little tea mugs. They are less than 2cm tall (about 3/4 in).

I think they are perfect for pendants on necklaces for kids.

For the mug with green dots I crocheted a single chain necklace and secured it with a double knot and finished it with a small bow.

For the orange one I made a twisted rope and added the mug to is.

Which one do you like more?

My daughter's bear prefers the orange one...

Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe

During holidays my Christmas Tic Tac Toe game was a huge hit so I was looking for something similar for Valentine's Day.

The idea was to crochet some small hearts and make the base for the game from felt. I was searching the internet and found a very nice and easy heart crochet pattern at Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom. The pattern is well written and easy to follow, thanks Jamie for sharing it with us.

I user light purple and light pink threads for the hearts. As you can see, the thickness of these threads is different so the size of the tiny hearts is slightly different.

I can't wait to play with this game.

Crochet Bracelet with Butterflies

The other day we found a bracelet with butterflies in a surprise egg. Unfortunately it was falling appart all the time so I decided to repair it with some some light pink, purple and white crochet threads.

To make a small bracelet I threaded the butterflies and crocheted them with the treads one by one and finally made a nice tie to secure them.

Three Owls Crochet Necklace

I found a few owl and flower buttons so I created two more corchet button necklaces. It is a really easy and fun project that can be done with kids.

The button holes are relatively small and my thread is thick, so I used the nail polish method to thread the buttons. It is important to check the orientation of the owls because if one of them is threaded upside down, it is going to be upside down on the finished necklace too.

I made two pink and purple necklaces, aren't they sweet... I hope you like them too.

Curly Crochet Necklace with Beads

This is a variation of my Curly Crochet Necklace where I added some small white beads to the thread.

For this necklace the first step is to thread all the beads for the necklace onto the thread before crocheting. If you don't have a large enough needle for the thread that is small enough for the beads, you can just dipp the end of the crochet thread into a clear nail polish and wait till hardens. After hardening you can use it as a needle replacement.

While crocheting the curles (see the description at the Curly Crochet Necklace) you should bring a bead down the thread from time to time. I did this after every fourth double crochet to have a nice periodic look.

Crochet Button Necklace for Kids

I always had lots of buttons and when my daughter was old enough, I let her play with them. Even bought some cheap, bright coloured ones just for her. Then she got older and those buttons were put away with many other things. A couple of days ago she found them again and asked me to do something with them. Since she loves necklaces, I suggested to crochet one using the buttons.

First we collected some buttons and a matching crochet thread. Then she threaded all the buttons for the necklace onto the thread before crocheting. I couldn’t find a large enough needle for the thread that was small enough for the button holes so I just dipped the end of the crochet thread into a clear nail polish and waited till hardened. After hardening it works surprisingly well! Finally, she crocheted the necklace.

I used a size 3 US crochet hook and a yarn called Schachenmayr Catania, which is a 100% cotton, 50g = 125m (1.75oz = 137 yds) yarn.

Skills: chain stitch
Materials: buttons, yarn, crochet hook, scissors, needle or nail polish (optional)

Instructions:
First thread all the buttons for the necklace onto the thread.
Chain 10, crochet your button into the chain, then chain another 10, add another button, repeat!
Do this until your necklace is as long as you want it to be.

Finish off and knot the ends together.

She really loves her new necklace!
