Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe

During holidays my Christmas Tic Tac Toe game was a huge hit so I was looking for something similar for Valentine's Day.

The idea was to crochet some small hearts and make the base for the game from felt. I was searching the internet and found a very nice and easy heart crochet pattern at Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom. The pattern is well written and easy to follow, thanks Jamie for sharing it with us.

I user light purple and light pink threads for the hearts. As you can see, the thickness of these threads is different so the size of the tiny hearts is slightly different.

I can't wait to play with this game.

Valentine Felt Coasters

This morning I created two felt coasters for Valentine's Day. I just draw a basic heart shape on a 10cm scuare, created a pattern, cut out of felt and glued to another piece of felt for greater stability.

Crochet Bracelet with Butterflies

The other day we found a bracelet with butterflies in a surprise egg. Unfortunately it was falling appart all the time so I decided to repair it with some some light pink, purple and white crochet threads.

To make a small bracelet I threaded the butterflies and crocheted them with the treads one by one and finally made a nice tie to secure them.

Here in Hungary we don't celebrate Groundhog Day, instead we watch bears for a precise and accurate weather forecast.

According to folk tradition on February, 2., the bear will awaken from winter dormancy and comes out of the cave after having a long winter sleep. If outside there will be a nice and sunny day, the bear sees its own shadow and will get scared and go back to sleep. That will mean there will be more coming cold days as the wintertime become longer. If it is cloudy, the bear stays awake and it is a good sign that the winter is about to end.

There are no wild bears in Hungary so if you would like to know the weather forecast, you have to go to the zoo. Instead of going to the zoo, we asked the representatives of our huge indoor bear population. They quickly organised a committee and started investigating the problem. I will get back to you with an update as soon as they come to a consensus.

Mini Memory Quilt in Red

After finishing the memory quilt in red I promised my daughter to make a mini memory quilt for her doll.

This weekend I had some time so I started cutting the squares and prepared the blocks. It is a postage stamp quilt where the squares are 5 cm by 5 cm (~2" by 2") and it was hard to work with them, especially with the crazy ones.

Here are the 2 by 2 blocks with the crazy squares:

All blocks are ready, I just need to sew them together and finish the quilt...

Three Owls Crochet Necklace

I found a few owl and flower buttons so I created two more corchet button necklaces. It is a really easy and fun project that can be done with kids.

The button holes are relatively small and my thread is thick, so I used the nail polish method to thread the buttons. It is important to check the orientation of the owls because if one of them is threaded upside down, it is going to be upside down on the finished necklace too.

I made two pink and purple necklaces, aren't they sweet... I hope you like them too.
